About Panch Kedar

Panch Kedar refers to the five sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. These temples—Kedarnath, Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar—are deeply revered in Hindu mythology and are closely associated with the Mahabharata.

Kedarnath 

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Kedarnath temple has exquisite architecture Built of extremely large, heavy and evenly cut grey slabs of stones, it evokes wonder as to how these heavy slabs were moved and handled in the earlier centuries. 

Tungnath 

Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples. Located at an altitude of 3,680 m (12,073 ft), and just below the peak of Chandrashila, Tungnath temple is the highest Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. 

Rudranath 

Rudranath Temple is a temple of Lord Shiva situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state of India,which is one of the Panchkedars . Located at an altitude of 2290 meters above sea level, the Rudranath temple is full of grand natural shade. 

Madhyamaheshwar 

The middle (madhya) or belly part or navel (nabhi) of Shiva is worshipped here. The temple is believed to have been built by the Pandavas, the central figures of the Hindu epic Mahabharata. It is accessible via a 16-18 kilometres treks, either from Aktolidhar or Ransi village near Ukhimath in the Rudraprayag district. 

Kalpeshwar

The Kalpeshwar Rudranath trail offers splendid views as it passes through thick woods, green valleys, lush green meadows, beautiful wild flower beds and high ridges. The trail is well defined through village's en-route with extremely charismatic views.
